NEW DELHI: The second meeting of Diplomatic Clubs, a joint initiative of the Diplomatic Club of Oman and the Diplomatic Club of Slovenia, was held in New Delhi under the auspices of Oman’s Ambassador to India, Issa bin Saleh al Shibani, with the support and hospitality of the Embassy of Oman.

The meeting brought together diplomatic clubs and organisations from Oman, Slovenia, Scotland, India, Armenia, Qatar, Lithuania, Uzbekistan, Nepal and Syria, reflecting a shared commitment to strengthening international connections beyond traditional diplomatic channels.

Held under the theme 'Growing Together – Building One Global Diplomatic Club Community,' the initiative seeks to establish a global network of diplomatic clubs to promote cultural exchange, strategic partnerships, business networking, youth engagement, community initiatives and international cooperation.

As part of the gathering, Ambassador Al Shibani hosted a special dinner for Arab ambassadors accredited to India and representatives of the Arab diplomatic community, including the Arab League. The event provided an opportunity for diplomatic dialogue, the exchange of experiences and discussions on the role of diplomatic clubs in advancing soft diplomacy.

The discussions generated interest among representatives of countries without established diplomatic clubs, with several expressing an interest in developing similar platforms and joining the expanding international network.

The Diplomatic Club of Oman expressed its appreciation to Ambassador Al Shibani for his guidance, commitment and hospitality, as well as to the Embassy team for its support in facilitating the meeting.

The initiative marks a further step towards building a connected global diplomatic community and strengthening international friendships through dialogue, cultural exchange and cooperation, while highlighting Oman’s role in promoting soft diplomacy beyond traditional diplomatic channels.
