MUSCAT: Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidy, Foreign Minister, received on Wednesday Prince Faisal bin Farhan al Saud, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as part of the exchange of fraternal visits between the two countries.

The two ministers discussed the trajectory of the strong fraternal relations between the Sultanate of Oman and Saudi Arabia, which continue to witness steady growth across various spheres of cooperation. They also reviewed a number of regional and political matters of mutual interest, along with ways to enhance coordination regarding them.

After that, an expanded talks session was convened with the participation of a number of ministers and senior officials from both sides. The discussions addressed various tracks of cooperation — including economic, investment and logistic domains — and explored opportunities for their development in a manner that supports integration, enhances the smooth flow of trade and opens broader horizons for practical partnership at both the bilateral and regional levels, as well as within the framework of Gulf cooperation among the GCC member states.

They also addressed partnership initiatives within the framework of the Joint Omani-Saudi Coordination Council, building upon the comparative advantages available to both countries, the shared objectives between Oman Vision 2040 and Saudi Vision 2030, and the role of the private sector in the partnership tracks.

In the context of regional and international issues, the two sides discussed developments pertaining to navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, emphasising the strategic importance of this waterway to the stability of international trade and energy security. They underscored the imperative of prioritising de-escalation, avoiding any steps that could expand the scope of risks, and working through diplomatic channels to identify practical pathways that alleviate tensions and preserve the safety and freedom of maritime navigation.

Participants in the expanded talks session from the Omani side included Sultan bin Salim al Habsi, Minister of Finance; Anwar bin Hilal al Jabri, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion; Shaikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah al Hinai, Ambassador-at-Large at the Foreign Ministry; Khalid bin Hashil al Muselhi, Under-Secretary of the Foreign Ministry for Administrative and Financial Affairs; and Mohsin bin Hamad al Hadhrami, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Energy and Minerals.

Participants from the Saudi side included Dr Rumaih bin Mohammed al Rumaih, Deputy Minister of Transport and Logistics Services; Dr Saud bin Mohammed al Sati, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs; Eng Majid al Otaibi, Deputy Minister of Energy for Technical and Regulatory Affairs for Petroleum and Gas; and Ibrahim bin Saad bin Bishan, Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Oman. — ONA
