The National Multi-Hazard Early Warning Centre has forecast that the effects of a weather trough will continue across the Sultanate of Oman until the end of this month.

The centre said local cloud formations would remain active over the Al Hajar Mountains and surrounding areas, with rain clouds expected to extend later to parts of the coastal areas of Al Batinah North, Al Batinah South, Muscat, Al Sharqiyah South and Musandam governorates.

Several wilayats across Oman received rainfall of varying intensity on Tuesday, causing wadis and streams to flow. Heavy rains lashed the wilayats of Shinas, Liwa, Suhar and Al Khabourah in Al Batinah North Governorate, triggering flows in wadis and streams.

Several wilayats in Al Batinah South also experienced thunderstorms accompanied by rainfall of varying intensity. Heavy rains were also reported in parts of Al Dakhiliyah Governorate. Rainfall of varying intensity was also recorded across several wilayats in Musandam Governorate, causing wadis and streams to flow.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources the rainfall figures for the period from October 24 to 27, the Wilayat of Al Rustaq recorded the highest rainfall at 60 mm, followed by Nakhal with 53 mm, Mahadha with 47 mm and Qurayat with 37 mm.
