MUSCAT: The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Oman, in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau, organised ‘Discover Sri Lanka’, a tourism promotion forum for travel and tour operators, airlines, social media promoters and journalists in Muscat on October 7.

The event, held at Al Falaj Hotel, aimed to increase visits to Sri Lanka by Omanis and expatriates living in Oman.

In his opening remarks, Sri Lankan Ambassador W A K S De Alwis highlighted the island nation’s proximity to Oman, noting that Sri Lanka is just a four-hour direct flight from Muscat.

Chamila Fayaratne, Deputy Managing Director of the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau, presented the country’s major tourism attractions and priority sectors.

The presentation was followed by an interactive question-and-answer session.

Participants also viewed videos showcasing Sri Lanka’s diverse tourism offerings.

Shihab al Shidhani, Corporate Sales Director of SalamAir, made a presentation on the airline’s services.

A raffle draw offered prizes, including return air tickets to Sri Lanka sponsored by SalamAir and hotel accommodation vouchers provided by the Aitken Spence Group. Representatives of Oman’s Foreign Ministry, Oman Air, SalamAir, leading tour operators from Oman and Sri Lanka, Aitken Spence Group and Tropical Garden Villas Ltd attended the event.
