Muscat: The Oman's Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka has decided to grant free tourist visas to citizens of the Sultanate of Oman, effective from May 25, 2026.
According to the ministry, Omani citizens will be able to enter Sri Lanka through the country's Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) system without paying visa fees. The visa allows visitors to stay in Sri Lanka for up to 30 days and permits two entries into the country during that period.
The ministry explained that the 30-day stay begins from the date of the traveller’s first arrival in Sri Lanka. In the event of a second entry, visitors will be allowed to stay only for the remaining balance of the original 30-day period. Any extension beyond the permitted stay may be obtained by paying the applicable visa extension fees.
The ministry urged citizens planning to travel to Sri Lanka to ensure that their passports are valid for at least six months from the date of entry.
Travellers were also advised to obtain health insurance coverage for the duration of their stay.
