Cash prizes of more than RO 100,000 were allocated for the second race of the 2026-27 Camel Racing Season, held over three consecutive days from October 13 to 15 at Al Felaij and Al Bashayer racecourses.

Organised by the Oman Camel Racing Federation (OCRF) with the support of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth (MoCSY), 63 rounds were concluded on Thursday, featuring competitions across different age categories.

Al Felaij Racecourse in the Wilayat of Barka, Al Batinah South Governorate and Al Bashayer in the Wilayat of Adam, Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, followed the same schedule.

On the first day, Tuesday featured 18 Hagayeg (two-year-old) races over 3 km.

On Wednesday, the second day, included 12 Lagaya (three-year-old) races over 4 km, while Al Felaij hosted three human-rider races over 2 km.

Thursday’s final day featured six Elythaa (four-year-old) races over 5 km, three Thanaya (five-year-old) races over 6 km, and three or four Al Hawl and Al Zamoul (six years and above) races over 6 km.

The season’s programme includes five successive races at Al Felaij and Al Bashayer. The third round is scheduled for October 27–29, the fourth for November 10–12 and the fifth for December 22–24.

The Mazayna and Ardha Camel Show is scheduled to take place in Al Musannah from January 31.

As part of the season, Oman Shell and Occidental Oman are supporting additional races and festivals across Al Dakhiliyah, Al Dhahirah and Al Wusta governorates, aimed at supporting local camel owners.

The federation requires all camels to be registered and fitted with approved electronic chips to verify their identity and age, with registration, inspections and bookings completed online before the races.

Human riders must meet weight and safety requirements, wear helmets and follow traditional Omani dress regulations.
