JEDDAH: Oman Football Association (OFA) Chairman Sayyid Sulaiman bin Hamoud al Busaidi met the national team players before the Saudi Arabia match, offering his support to the squad as it readies for the second outing in the tournament.
Al Busaidi spoke with the players, as the Red Warriors continue their campaign in Jeddah and prepare for their final Group A fixture against Kuwait.
The meeting reflected the continued support of the OFA for the national team and its players during the tournament.
Meanwhile, Oman Consul General in Jeddah Salim bin Mohammed al Busaidi reiterated the consulate’s support for the national team, praising the high morale he observed within the delegation since its arrival in Jeddah.
Salim stressed the importance of continuing to support the players and coaching staff, calling for patience, hard work and responsibility as the team prepares for its upcoming challenges.
Al Busaidi praised the Omani supporters who travelled to Jeddah to back the Red Warriors and affirmed that the Consulate General of Oman in Jeddah is ready to assist and serve Omani fans throughout the tournament.
BAHRAIN PROTEST MADIBO'S PARTICIPATION
Bahrain Football Association lodged an official protest with the Gulf Cup Federation over the participation of Qatar midfielder Assim Madibo in their Gulf Cup 27 match.
The Bahrain FA questioned Madibo’s eligibility over a previous disciplinary suspension reportedly imposed by Fifa following his red card against Canada at the 2026 World Cup.
However, sources confirmed that the Gulf Cup disciplinary committee rejected the protest because it was not submitted within the stipulated time after the match. The committee did not consider the substance of the protest.
Sources also confirmed that Madibo’s previous Fifa suspension does not apply to Gulf Cup 27, leaving the result of the Qatar-Bahrain match unchanged.
