MUSCAT: The Maritime Security Centre, in coordination with the relevant authorities, is following operations to tow the oil tanker ELGAIA, which is flying the flag of the Republic of Panama, to one of the ports in the Sultanate of Oman after a fire broke out in its engine room following an earlier targeting incident. The vessel is located 103 nautical miles northeast of Musandam Governorate.

One of the Royal Navy of Oman vessels evacuated 23 members of the tanker's crew and provided them with the necessary medical care in coordination with the competent health authorities.

Search operations are continuing for two crew members who remain missing.
