Group stage ends at School Beach Sports Championship in Dhofar

The group stage of the School Beach Sports Championship concluded on Tuesday, with 12 matches scheduled in beach volleyball and beach handball as school teams compete for places in the semifinals.

Organised by the Oman School Sports Federation, the championship is being held on the sandy courts at the Sultan Qaboos Youth Complex for Culture and Entertainment in Dhofar Governorate. The final group-stage fixtures are expected to provide another round of competitive action as teams look to secure qualification for the last four.

In beach volleyball, four matches will be played today. Muscat Education will take on Musandam Education, while North Al Batinah Education faces Dhofar Education. South Al Sharqiyah Education will meet South Al Batinah Education, with Al Dakhiliyah Education playing Al Dhahirah Education in the final match.

The second round produced several convincing results. South Al Sharqiyah Education defeated North Al Batinah Education 2-0, while Al Dakhiliyah Education recorded a 2-0 victory over Al Wusta Education. South Al Batinah Education also secured a 2-0 win against Al Dhahirah Education, while Dhofar Education overcame Al Buraimi Education by the same score.

Al Dakhiliyah Education continued its strong run by defeating North Al Sharqiyah Education 2-0, while Muscat Education completed the round with another 2-0 victory over Al Wusta Education.

Eight matches are also scheduled today in beach handball. North Al Batinah Education will face Al Dhahirah Education, while South Al Batinah Education meets Dhofar Education. South Al Sharqiyah Education will play Al Dakhiliyah Education, and North Al Sharqiyah Education takes on Muscat Education.

The remaining fixtures will see North Al Batinah Education meet Al Buraimi Education, Al Dhahirah Education face Dhofar Education, South Al Sharqiyah Education play Al Wusta Education, and Al Dakhiliyah Education take on Dhofar Education.

The second round of beach handball featured several closely contested encounters. Al Dhahirah Education defeated North Al Sharqiyah Education 2-0, while Al Dakhiliyah Education beat South Al Batinah Education by the same margin.

Dhofar Education secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Muscat Education in one of the round's most notable matches, while Musandam Education defeated North Al Batinah Education 2-0. South Al Sharqiyah Education also edged Al Dhahirah Education 2-1 before Al Dakhiliyah Education closed the round with a 2-0 victory over North Al Batinah Education.

Attention now turns to the semifinals on Wednesday, when the qualified teams will compete for places in the finals. The championship will conclude on Thursday morning.

The closing ceremony will be held under the patronage of Sayyid Sulaiman bin Ali Al Busaidi, Deputy Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers, in the presence of Dr Intisar bint Abdullah Al Ambusaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Supporting Educational Programmes.

The championship highlights the growing importance of school sports in Oman and its role in identifying promising young athletes and providing them with opportunities to develop their skills through structured competition.
