Muscat: Several governorates across Oman experienced thunderstorms of varying intensity yesterday, ranging from heavy to moderate downpours that led to the flow of multiple valleys (wadis) and reefs.

Al Dakhiliyah Governorate

Rainfall of varying intensity hit the Wilayat of Al Jabal Al Akhdhar, causing several reefs to flow. Rain was also reported in Jabal Shams and the Al Nakhar area in the Wilayat of Al Hamra. Meanwhile, heavy rains swept the Al Rahba area in the Wilayat of Bidbid, alongside scattered rainfall in the Sant area of the Wilayat of Bahla.

Al Batinah South Governorate

The Wilayat of Al Rustaq saw moderate to heavy rain over Wadi Al Sahtan —concentrated mainly in Al Hajir and the village of Madrooj — which resulted in flowing wadis and reefs. Similar weather conditions affected the mountains of Wadi Bani Ghafir. Heavy downpours were also recorded in Wadi Bani Kharous in the Wilayat of Al Awabi, while rains in Wadi Mistal within the Wilayat of Nakhal triggered localised valley runoffs.

Al Dhahirah Governorate

Heavy thunderstorms battered the mountains of Wadi Al Ain and Jabal Al Kaur east of the Wilayat of Ibri. The rainfall extended to Blad Al Shahoom and Jabal Al Sarah, resulting in active water flows across local reefs.
