MUSCAT: The Media and Public Awareness Sector of the National Committee for Emergency Management held on Monday a meeting chaired by Mohammed bin Said al Balushi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Head of the Sector, to follow up on the media and public awareness aspects pertaining to the grounding incident of the vessel Caroline Bezengi off the coast of Al Hallaniyat Islands.


The meeting, held at the Ministry of Information, reviewed the latest developments of the incident, the frameworks and mechanisms for media engagement and the ongoing efforts to monitor its evolution. It also examined the role of media outlets in conveying accurate and reliable information to the public, as well as addressing rumours and misinformation.


Furthermore, the meeting discussed a number of topics related to media, awareness and guidance work, alongside ways to enhance coordination among relevant authorities. This aims to contribute to raising community awareness and ensuring that information and updates are handled strictly through official sources and channels in the Sultanate of Oman. - ONA
