Commuters need to plan ahead to consider alternative routes as Muscat Municipality is implementing the first phase of development works for Al Jami Roundabout, Al Seeb, which would result in a partial closure of the roundabout from Sunday evening, August 16, until dawn on Sunday, August 23, 2026.
The municipality has requested the public adhere to the diversions and directional signs and exercise caution during this week.
To bypass the partial closure at Al Jami Roundabout and minimize delays in the Wilayat of Seeb, one can utilize several structural alternative routes depending on the commuters' starting point and destination. One of the major highway alternatives is the Muscat Expressway route, as with this route one can completely bypass local arterial bottlenecks in Seeb if one is commuting long distances between Muscat, Halban, or Barka.
The Sultan Qaboos Road is ideal if one is traveling east-west parallel to the coast; keeping in mind that local exits near central Seeb may experience heavier secondary traffic.
If traveling near the waterfront or heading toward Al Mouj, one suggestion is to use the Seeb seafront road to loop around the inner residential blocks.Al Salam Street route can be used to navigate south toward Al Mabela or connection points near the Al Mabela Bridge.
Al Khoudh Street is considered a reliable east-west alternative to cut across to the Muscat Expressway intersections or access areas around Sultan Qaboos University. Meanwhile, Al Shabab Street is useful if one is navigating around southern Al Mawaleh, though be aware of nearby localized upgrades near the Mazoon Mosque intersection.
