Seeb take Group 1 lead as Saham stay top of Group 2

MUSCAT: Seeb moved to the top of Group 1 in the Jindal Youth League after defeating Al Nasr 4-1 in the fourth round, while Saham remained at the summit of Group 2 despite sitting out of the latest round of matches.


Seeb continued their impressive run with a third consecutive victory, overcoming previous leaders Al Nasr to maintain a perfect record. The win took Seeb to nine points from three matches, having scored 18 goals and conceded just once.


Oman Club also climbed to nine points after edging Samayil 3-2 in a five-goal contest. Oman Club have now registered three victories from four matches and occupy second place behind Seeb on goal difference.

 Al Nasr dropped to third following their first defeat of the competition but remain firmly in the qualification race with seven points. Sur are also on seven points after securing a 3-1 victory over Dhofar, with Sur having played one match fewer.

Samayil remain fifth with three points, while Bahla and Dhofar are yet to open their accounts.


Competition in Group 2 remained tight behind leaders Saham, who retain first place with nine points from three victories despite receiving a bye in the fourth round.


Al Khabourah boosted their campaign with a 2-0 victory over Ibri, moving on to four points. Despite the defeat, Ibri remain second with six points from four matches.


Al Shabab and Sohar shared the points in a 1-1 draw. The result moved both sides to five points, with Al Shabab occupying third place on goal difference ahead of Sohar.

Al Rustaq, meanwhile, secured their first victory of the tournament after defeating Al Nahda 4-2. The result lifted Al Rustaq to four points, level with Al Khabourah, while Al Nahda remain without a point.


Attention now turns to Sunday’s fifth round, which could have a significant impact on the race for the semifinal places.


In Group 1, Samayil face Sur and leaders Seeb take on Bahla at 6 pm, before Al Nasr meet Oman Club in a key contest at 7:20 pm.


Group 2 will see Al Nahda face Al Khabourah, and Sohar take on Al Rustaq at 6 pm, while the round concludes with an important 7:20 pm clash between leaders Saham and third-placed Al Shabab.
