MUSCAT: Al Nasr recorded the biggest victory of the second round of the Jindal Youth League after defeating Dhofar 10-0, while Saham continued their perfect start by securing a second successive win in Group 2.
The six matches played across the two groups delivered 35 goals, underlining the attacking approach shown by the young teams in the inaugural edition of the competition.
In Group 1, Al Nasr dominated their encounter against Dhofar at Seeb Club’s Al Baha’is ground and converted their superiority into a comprehensive victory. The result lifted Al Nasr to the top of the standings with four points from two matches and a goal difference of plus 10.
Sur also moved on to four points after defeating Bahla 4-2. The victory followed their 2-2 draw with Al Nasr in the opening round and kept them firmly in contention at the top of the group. Sur occupy second place, behind Al Nasr on goal difference.
Seeb, who received a bye in the opening round, began their campaign in impressive fashion with a commanding 7-0 win over Oman Club. The result placed Seeb third with three points and a strong early goal difference.
Oman Club remain on three points after suffering their first defeat of the competition. They had opened their campaign with a 4-1 victory over Bahla. Samayil, who sat out the second round, also have three points following their opening win over Dhofar. Bahla and Dhofar remain without a point after two matches.
SAHAM ON TOP
In Group 2, Saham maintained their position at the summit after defeating Al Khabourah 2-1. Saham have now collected six points from two matches, having also beaten Al Rustaq 3-1 in the opening round.
Sohar moved into second place with four points following a 3-0 victory over Ibri. The result extended Sohar’s unbeaten start after their first-round draw with Al Khabourah.
Ibri remain third with three points, having defeated Al Nahda in their opening fixture.
SIX-GOAL THRILLER
Al Shabab and Al Rustaq produced one of the round’s most entertaining matches as they shared six goals in a 3-3 draw. It was Al Shabab’s first appearance in the competition, while Al Rustaq collected their first point after losing their opening match.
Al Khabourah and Al Shabab have one point each, while Al Nahda remain without a point after sitting out the second round.
