MUSCAT: The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth (MoCSY) will organise the second Omani Chanting Festival in the Al Dakhiliyah Governorate in October 2026.

The festival highlights the Ministry’s efforts to establish a platform for promoting the skills of chanters and developing their abilities to contribute to the cultural arena in Oman.

Sayyid Said bin Sultan al Busaidy, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth for Culture, said that the festival reflects the Ministry’s conviction in the fact that chanting plays a significant role in portraying national and human values and consolidating the Omani cultural identity.

He explained that the launch of the festival stems from the Ministry’s keenness to develop cultural arts and encourage national talents to showcase their potential.

Sayyid Said pointed out that the art of chanting contributes to highlighting the cultural identity of society in a manner that fits with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.

The Ministry targets young men and women aged 18 to 39 years. Each participant is entitled to submit one chanting segment of 4 to 7 minutes about a spiritual, national or moral issue. The entries can be submitted via the Ministry’s website from now until August 29. - ONA
