Muscat: The Board of Directors of Indian Schools Oman has issued a safety protocol prioritizing student comfort, safety, and health as Indian Schools reopen across the country.
The comprehensive directive mandates proactive health measures, safe infrastructure, and modified daily activities to ensure a comfortable learning environment for every child.
"As schools resumed classes in mid-July, we are seeing an attendance of approximately 85% in all the schools. The safety, health, and well-being of our students remain our absolute highest priority," stated the Board leadership.
Key Student-Centric Directives Issued to Schools:
1. Outdoor activities, including physical education, sports, and morning assemblies, are suspended during these months and will only resume when weather conditions are safe and favourable.
2. Teachers will incorporate regular hydration breaks throughout the school day. Schools have ensured readily accessible, chilled, and hygienic drinking water across campus with routinely replaced filtration systems.
3. Mandatory efficiency checks and immediate repairs, if required, for air-conditioning units across all classrooms, labs, common areas, and school transport fleets.
4. School buses are directed to maintain optimal air-conditioning, with strict mandates prohibiting students from waiting inside parked vehicles during drop-off or pick-up.
5. Schools are instructed to provide specialized attention and support to younger children and students with pre-existing medical conditions.
6. School clinics are fully stocked and staffed to handle heat-related discomfort, with all school personnel trained to recognize early symptoms and respond immediately.
Syed Ahmad Salman, chairman, said, " Twice in the last 6 years, including this year, the world drifted beneath our feet, as Board examinations couldn't be conducted. That emotional awakening taught us that education is not a cold, single moment of judgement, but an enduring labour of love, a continuous sanctuary of guided growth where every single day is a promise kept to our children".
