Muscat: The ‘Ambassador’s Schoolympic’ for students of Indian Schools in Oman — an initiative of the Board of Directors of Indian Schools in Oman — launches at the weekend in Muscat. The two-day event aims to engage students constructively and promote sportsmanship among the student community.

Syed Ahmad Salman, Chairman, Board of Directors, said: "This event has been conceived to provide a platform for the students of all 22 Indian schools across Oman to participate in athletic competitions and experience the spirit of sportsmanship, teamwork, and healthy competition."

The event will be hosted by four schools in the capital region: Indian School Muscat, Indian School Wadi Kabir, Indian School Seeb and Indian School Bausher during April 10 – 11, 2026. The major finals of the event will be held at Indian School Muscat on April 11 in the presence of GV Srinivas, Ambassador of India to the Sultanate of Oman.

Due to the geographical dispersion of Indian Schools across the country, opportunities for large-scale inter-school sporting events have been limited.

However, the Board Sports Committee initiated the Ambassador’s Schoolympic to bridge this gap by bringing together students from all schools for an annual athletic meet focused primarily on track and field and games.

Through this initiative, the Board seeks to encourage wider participation in sports, promote physical fitness and healthy lifestyles, and inspire young students to consider sports as a potential career pathway. The Ambassador’s Schoolympic is also expected to foster unity among students, schools, and the wider community while identifying and nurturing young sporting talent within the Indian Schools system in Oman.

The chairman affirmed, “the initiative is envisioned to enhance the standard of sporting activities among students and to instill a culture of teamwork, discipline, perseverance, and fair play. It is also envisioned to provide opportunities for students who have not previously represented their schools in cluster-level competitions to showcase their abilities and participate in competitive sports.”
