

Muscat: A comprehensive phase of internal road projects and urban humanization initiatives is underway in the Wilayat of Al Buraimi. These efforts are part of the ongoing drive to bolster infrastructure, upgrade service and tourism facilities, and enhance the efficiency of the governorate’s road networks.
Eng. Obeid bin Salim al Kaabi, Director of the Projects Department at Al Buraimi Governorate, said the governorate has completed the paving of 25 kilometers in Phase I. The completion rate of core works for this phase has reached 84 per cent, while the overall project completion stands at 51 per cent.
In Phase II, 20 kilometers of roads have been paved, with 50 per cent of associated works completed, bringing the overall progress of this stage to 33 per cent.
Regarding the maintenance of roads impacted by recent weather conditions, Eng. Al Kaabi noted that the overall completion rate has reached 16 per cent. Asphalt paving has been finalised across 10 sites, with ongoing work to establish the necessary protective barriers.
Concurrently, maintenance operations have commenced at 10 new locations distributed along the old road connecting Mahdah and Al Fay, along with other sites within the Wilayat of Al Buraimi.
Furthermore, the Director highlighted the completion of the public street development project stretching from Al Salam Roundabout to Al Khadra Roundabout in February 2026. He further confirmed that work is currently underway on the development of the main street from Al Nahdah roundabout to Al Salam roundabout. This project spans an area of nearly 90,000 square meters with a length of 4,868 meters.
The development is designed with integrated and diverse facilities to boost the area's aesthetic and investment value. It includes health walkways, green spaces, water features, a dedicated cycling track, public restrooms, investment buildings, cafe pavilions, and the replacement of existing street lamps with modern lighting systems.
In the same context, Eng. Al Kaabi pointed out that the cycling track project is currently in the design phase. The track will span 6 kilometers in length and 3 meters in width, featuring designated parking facilities for vehicles and bicycles over an area of 200 square meters, alongside the installation of necessary safety barriers for users.
