In a vibrant celebration of Omani craftsmanship, cultural identity, and entrepreneurship, the 'Harfi Asalah' (authentic craftsmanship) initiative brought together artisans and productive families in Al Suwaiq, highlighting the role of traditional crafts in supporting local economic development and preserving Oman’s rich heritage.
The event was organised by the Al Suwaiq Volunteer Charity Team. The initiative attracted a wide audience, including dignitaries, entrepreneurs, community leaders, and residents interested in supporting local products and handicrafts.
Eng Said al Baddaei, the head of the organising charity, highlighted that this event was organised as both a cultural and economic platform. He added that the event aimed to empower artisans and productive families by providing opportunities to showcase and market their handmade products. Organisers emphasised that supporting local craftsmanship contributes not only to preserving traditional skills, but also to creating sustainable sources of income and encouraging small-scale entrepreneurship.
The accompanying exhibition featured a diverse collection of handmade products like embroidery, tailoring, perfumes, incense, gifts, household crafts, and products made by productive families. Each exhibit reflected the authenticity of Omani culture while demonstrating the innovation and dedication of local producers.
The event received a positive response from visitors, many of whom expressed admiration for the quality and variety of the products on display. Attendees noted that initiatives such as 'Harfi Asalah' provide valuable marketing opportunities for artisans and productive families, helping them reach wider audiences and strengthen the sustainability of their businesses. Visitors expressed strong appreciation for the initiative and its impact on the local community.
Fatma al Qutaiti, a visitor, said that the event provided a valuable opportunity to discover authentic Omani products and support local families. “The quality of the handmade items reflects the creativity and dedication of our artisans. Events like this encourage us to buy local products and preserve our cultural identity."
Another visitor, Salim al Hinai, highlighted the importance of creating more platforms for artisans and entrepreneurs. “These exhibitions help talented individuals reach new customers and transform their skills into sustainable businesses. They also inspire young people to appreciate traditional crafts and consider them as viable career opportunities.”
