Nadheera Al Harthi elected to Asian School sports Federation Board for 2026–2030 Term

MUSCAT: Nadheera bint Ahmed Al Harthi, President of the Oman School Sports Association, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Asian School Sports Federation (ASSF) for the 2026–2030 term.

The election took place during the Federation’s General Assembly meeting held in Changsha, People's Republic of China, on 23–24 June, with representatives from 15 member states participating.

During the meeting, members renewed confidence in Teng Lianshuai of the People's Republic of China as President of the Federation by acclamation. The positions of Vice Presidents were won by Mehdi Ethnin of Malaysia, Shin Kook of Singapore, and Mongkon Wimonrat of Thailand.

Wang Jiangang of China was elected Secretary-General by acclamation, while Tang Ka Pui of Hong Kong, China, was elected Treasurer.

The newly elected Board members for the upcoming term include Mohammad Julaihi of Brunei Darussalam, Mukhtej Singh Badisha of India, Abolfazl Beigani of Iran, Saleh Al Oraifi of Saudi Arabia, Chan Lok Wai of Macao, China, Abdulrahman Al Muftah of Qatar, and Nadheera Al Harthi of the Sultanate of Oman.

Al Harthi’s election represents a new achievement for Oman’s presence in continental sports organizations and reflects the confidence placed in Omani expertise in the field of school sports at the Asian level.

Commenting on her election, Al Harthi expressed her pride in gaining the confidence of the Federation’s members, noting that her Board membership provides an important opportunity to contribute to the advancement of school sports across Asia while strengthening Oman’s participation in regional initiatives and programmes.

She said that the position would enable her to transfer successful experiences and best practices to Oman and enhance cooperation with member states in ways that support the development of school sports programmes and improve the quality of competitions and activities offered to students.

Al Harthi also emphasized her aspiration to expand opportunities for Omani students to participate in Asian championships and events, helping develop their athletic and leadership skills, while giving special attention to supporting women’s and girls’ sports and encouraging their participation in school sports programmes and activities.

She affirmed her commitment to contributing to the development of the Asian School Sports Federation and strengthening its role as a platform for cooperation, knowledge exchange, and innovative initiatives that serve students and reinforce the role of school sports as an effective tool for education, development, and community building.
