MUSCAT: The Embassy of Nepal in Muscat organised a Peace Walk and beach cleaning event at Qurum Beach to mark International Everest Day on May 29.
The walk began from W Hotel at 5 am, with participation from members of the Non-Resident Nepali Social Club, Nepali community organisations and friends of Nepal. Participants also took part in a beach clean-up drive as part of environmental awareness efforts.
Ambassador Dornath Aryal who spoke on the occasion expressed gratitude to all participants, highlighting the importance of such initiatives in strengthening community unity and enhancing the image of the Nepali diaspora in Oman.
This year, Everest Day coincided with Nepal’s Republic Day, which was also marked with a special ceremony at the Embassy of Nepal in Muscat. During the event, Ambassador Aryal hoisted the national flag and addressed attendees on the significance of Republic Day, the constitution, and Nepal’s republican system.
The Ambassador also formally inaugurated the Embassy’s e-Museum by activating a kiosk machine, describing it as an important step toward preserving historical records and strengthening cultural and diplomatic ties. He encouraged community members to explore the digital archive and share feedback.
Members of the Nepali community attended the events dressed in traditional attire, adding cultural vibrancy to the celebrations.
First Secretary and e-Museum Committee Convenor Bishesh Kumar Sah outlined the efforts taken to collect and curate materials for the digital museum and said the platform would soon be made available on the Embassy’s website.
