MUSCAT: The Muttrah Cable Car project, known as the ‘Muttrah Teleferik’, has completed its safety runs successfully and is getting set for the grand launch soon, adding yet another reason to visit the Sultanate of Oman, according to the promoters.

The Muttrah Teleferik is Oman's first-ever cable car project and has completed the construction of the ropeway as well as the embarking, stopover and disembarking points, with 18 cable cars ready to ply regularly.

“The Muttrah Teleferik project is complete, and we are currently in the commissioning, testing and training processes with trial operations to begin on August 6 till mid-September, followed by full-fledged operations,” said Khalid al Nabhani, Group Co-Founder and CEO, Sabeen Investments LLC, the master developer of the Muttrah Teleferik.

The Muttrah Teleferik project, which spans around 3 kilometres between three destinations, will host over 70 retail and dining units and create over 100 job opportunities with nearly 4 million annual visitors.

“This iconic project that reflects our strategic commitment to elevating Oman's tourism and leisure sector is part of our ongoing efforts in the development of high-impact destinations that transform visitor experiences and unlock new economic opportunities. We always focus on creating projects that harmonise cultural authenticity with world-class innovation,” he adds.

The 3-kilometre aerial system will deliver 360-degree panoramic views over Muttrah’s historic coastline, mountains and the harbour. The cabins are Porsche-style alongside integrated retail, dining spaces, and family recreation zones like a dancing fountain. The trail will feature multiple stops including the Port Station, Peak/Al Raya Station, and Hay Al Ward (Flower Park) Station.

Muttrah Teleferik represents a substantial qualitative addition to the tourism portfolio in Muttrah. The ongoing completions encompass project facilities and cable car stations; designated visitor pathways; technical operations, along with comprehensive security and safety procedures and essential public services.

The project, anchored in the principles of Oman Vision 2040, is a prime embodiment of the vision of bettering Oman’s tourism attractions and is also a unique destination where heritage, landscape, and modern engineering converge to create an unforgettable journey for residents, tourists, and global partners alike.
