

OLYMPIA, Greece: Ishaq bin Ahmed al Balushi, Director of Oman Olympic Academy, participated in
the 19th International Session for Directors of National Olympic Academies and Representatives of National Olympic Committees, organised by the International Olympic Academy in Olympia, Greece, from May 17 to 23, 2026, with the participation of representatives from various Olympic academies and National Olympic Committees from around the world.
The session featured a series of scientific lectures and specialised workshops focusing on several key themes within the contemporary Olympic Movement, most notably athlete empowerment, inclusion, integrity, and responsibility. The programme also addressed topics related to strengthening good sports governance, developing athlete safeguarding policies, and reinforcing the principles of Olympic education within national sports institutions.
In addition, the sessions discussed issues related to ethical leadership in sport and the role of National Olympic Academies in promoting Olympic culture and values.
Participants also reviewed mechanisms for developing educational programmes associated with the Olympic Movement and exchanged experiences and best practices in the management of sports and educational programmes.
The session also included presentations highlighting the experiences of several National Olympic Academies, focusing on institutional development and management of National Olympic Academies, enhancing awareness programmes aimed at promoting Olympic culture and values, and improving the efficiency of professionals working in the sports sector, contributing positively to the sustainability of Olympic work at the national level.
The programme concluded with a presentation of the key recommendations issued during the lectures and workshops, emphasising the importance of strengthening cooperation among National Olympic Academies, developing educational programmes, intensifying efforts in the fields of governance, integrity, and athlete safeguarding, and creating programmes within National Olympic Academies that align with the International Olympic Committee’s vision of building a more inclusive and sustainable sports environment. At the conclusion of the session, certificates were presented to the participants by the President of International Olympic Committee.
The participation of Oman Olympic Committee, represented by Oman Olympic Academy, in this international programme reflects its commitment to keeping pace with developments in sports sciences and Olympic education, while benefiting from international experiences to enhance its national programmes and strengthen its role in promoting Olympic culture and values within the community and sports institutions.
