MUSCAT: The Omani Women’s Academy has achieved a significant international milestone by winning the second edition of the Unesco Award for Sustainable Education for its pioneering project 'Raiadat Incubator.' The award, presented by the Regional Centre for Educational Planning affiliated with Unesco, recognises innovative initiatives that contribute to sustainable education and community development.
The achievement underscores the Sultanate of Oman’s growing leadership in women’s empowerment and sustainable entrepreneurship at both regional and international levels.
The Raiadat Incubator adopts an integrated ecosystem aimed at empowering women entrepreneurs through training, professional qualification, consultancy and capacity building. The initiative also provides support in feasibility studies, digital marketing, financial management, innovation and technology, enhancing participants’ preparedness to confidently and effectively enter the labour market and entrepreneurial sector.
In its first phase, the incubator will target 90 Omani women, including job-seekers, productive families and women with disabilities, within a supportive and motivating environment designed to foster growth and sustainability. The programme aims to create inspiring female success stories while strengthening women’s presence across diverse economic sectors.
Dr Fatima bint Yousuf al Balushi, CEO of the Omani Women’s Academy, described the achievement as international recognition of the Academy’s role in empowering Omani women and promoting innovation and sustainable entrepreneurship.
She noted that the Raiadat Incubator is more than a business incubator, describing it as a national platform for genuine empowerment that transforms women’s potential into sustainable and competitive ventures capable of delivering lasting economic and social impact.
