MUSCAT: A Memorandum of Understanding was signed during Oman Sustainability Week 2026, by Stéphane Berton, Managing Director of talabat Oman, and Ammar Dalloul, Co-founder and CEO of BYOD, along with delegates from the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology and Shell Oman.
The initiative marks a significant step toward decarbonising Oman’s urban logistics sector and aligns with Oman’s broader sustainability ambitions under Oman Vision 2040.
Under the pilot phase, 10 electric bikes will be deployed to assess performance, reliability, and operational feasibility. The programme will also evaluate environmental impact, rider experience, and the potential for scaling up the initiative across a wider delivery network.
Stéphane Berton, Managing Director at talabat Oman said, “At talabat, we believe the future of delivery should be smarter and more sustainable. Our partnership with BYOD reflects our commitment to innovation and Oman’s Net-Zero goals.” He added, “This initiative marks a positive step toward greener delivery solutions that help reduce our environmental footprint. It will directly benefit riders, customers and communities.” As part of the project, a battery-swapping station will be installed at a location selected by talabat in collaboration with BYOD and Shell Oman, ensuring a reliable supply of clean energy for riders throughout the day.

In addition to environmental efforts, the company highlighted its humanitarian initiatives through the “Give Back” section, offering visitors the opportunity to learn more about its community programmes and contribute to charitable causes.
