MUSCAT: The University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS) Al Musannah, represented by the Department of Economics and Business Administration, in collaboration with the Directorate-General of Agricultural, Fisheries and Water Resources in Al Batinah South Governorate, will organise the 'Empowering Rural Women' Exhibition on May 20, Wednesday at the university auditorium.

The event will bring together government and private entities, productive families and stakeholders involved in community empowerment initiatives.

It aims to highlight the role of rural women in supporting economic and social development, while promoting local production and showcasing entrepreneurial ventures and traditional crafts that contribute to the national economy and preserve Omani identity.

The exhibition will feature a visual presentation of key initiatives and programmes supporting rural women, along with a traditional performance by students of Al Muladdah Basic Education School (1–8), celebrating aspects of Omani folk arts and cultural heritage.

It will also include dedicated sections for entrepreneurial projects, home-based businesses, handicrafts and local products, offering participants a platform to present their experiences, enhance marketing opportunities and promote small-scale productive initiatives.

The organisers said the exhibition reflects UTAS’s commitment to empowering rural women and strengthening their contribution to economic, social and cultural development.

It also aligns with efforts to promote entrepreneurship, innovation and community engagement, while reinforcing partnerships with various institutions and linking academic learning with practical application.
