UTAS-Al Musannah hosts seminar on youth leadership

AL MUSANNAH: The University of Technology and Applied Sciences in Al Musannah organised a seminar titled “Youth Leadership: Towards an Active Generation in Society” as part of its ongoing efforts to empower youth and enhance leadership skills. The seminar brought together distinguished speakers and specialists and targeted university students, school students and the local community.


The seminar aimed to promote leadership awareness among young people and to develop their capacities to actively contribute to community service and nation-building, while preparing them to face future challenges with confidence and responsibility.


The event featured five thematic presentations. The first paper, “Youth Leadership and Its Importance,” was delivered by Saif bin Hamad al Jaradi, an internationally certified trainer and consultant in strategic leadership and leadership capacity development. He highlighted the role of leadership and its impact on achieving sustainable development.


The second paper, “Skills of a Young Leader,” was presented by Aziza al Kalbani, Head of the Social Guidance Department at the Royal Hospital and one of the Top 100 Women Leaders in the Middle East. She discussed key personal and professional skills essential for young leaders to achieve success.


The third paper, “Leadership in the University Environment,” was delivered by Dr Monia al Farsi, Deputy Assistant Vice-Chancellor for Electronic Systems and Student Services. She emphasised the importance of student leadership and the role of student clubs and university activities in nurturing leadership and initiative.


The fourth presentation, “Student Leadership in the School Environment,” was delivered by Dr Said bin Khalfan al Rawahi, Director of the Planning and Development Department at the Directorate-General of Education in Al Batinah South Governorate, focusing on the role of educational institutions in developing leadership skills from early stages.


The seminar concluded with the fifth paper, “Challenges Facing Youth Leadership,” presented by Sana al Yafei, Head of the Clinical Nutrition Department at the Royal Hospital and among the Top 100 Women Leaders in the Middle East, addressing key leadership challenges and strategies to overcome them.


The seminar witnessed strong audience engagement through discussions and questions, contributing to the enrichment of the sessions and reinforcing awareness of the importance of youth leadership in serving society.
