MUSCAT, MAY 14
Al Nasr returned to winning ways with a 3-1 victory over Bahla at Nizwa Sports Complex, while Saham claimed a narrow 1-0 home win over Oman Club in another Round 24 fixture of the Jindal League.
At Nizwa Sports Complex, Al Nasr produced a strong second-half display to overcome Bahla and strengthen their position in the upper reaches of the standings. The visitors went in front in the 40th minute when foreign player Ibrahima Endris struck from outside the area, sending a powerful effort beyond Bahla goalkeeper Al Muhtadi al Abri.
Bahla responded just before the break. After a free-kick effort from Abdulsalam al Shukaili was parried by Al Nasr goalkeeper Ibrahim al Rajhi, Karl Winda reacted quickest to turn the rebound into the net in the 45th minute. Al Nasr thought they had restored their lead moments later through Endris, but the effort was ruled out after a VAR review, leaving the sides level at 1-1 at half-time.
Al Nasr emerged with greater intensity after the restart and regained the lead in the 50th minute. Khalid al Sulaimi broke through the Bahla defence before drilling a firm finish past Al Muhtadi al Abri to make it 2-1.
Bahla tried to work their way back into the contest, but Al Nasr remained the sharper side going forward and added a third in the 73rd minute. Hussein al Shahri found the net from a free-kick to put the result beyond doubt and secure all three points for the visitors.
The win lifted Al Nasr to 49 points in third place, while Bahla remained on 34 points in seventh.
SAHAM IN NINTH SPOT
In the other match, Saham defeated Oman Club 1-0 at Sohar Sports Complex thanks to a first-half strike from Salah al Kahali. The decisive goal came in the 24th minute when Al Kahali made the most of a loose ball inside the area and fired into the top corner after a delivery from Abdulmoein al Marzouqi had created the opening.
Saham were the better side in the first half, showing greater urgency and sharper movement in attack, while Oman Club struggled to create clear danger despite their efforts to respond through their forward line.
Oman Club improved after the break and pushed harder in search of an equaliser, creating several openings, but a lack of composure in front of goal denied them a way back into the game. Saham held firm defensively to preserve their lead and take a valuable three points.
The result moved Saham up to 25 points in ninth place, while Oman Club remained sixth on 36 points.
