

MUSCAT: The second round of the Athletes Preparation Centres Basketball League for the 2025-2026 season produced three contrasting results, underlining the competitive balance and closely matched standards among the participating teams at the sub hall of Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher.
Al Bashayer Club defeated Salalah Club 45-29, while Nizwa Club continued their strong run with a 45-38 victory over Sohar Sports Complex. In the third match, Seeb Club edged Al Amerat Club 41-37 in another closely fought contest.
With two wins from two matches, Nizwa Club moved to the top of the standings with four points. Al Bashayer Club, Sohar Sports Complex, Seeb Club and Al Amerat Club all have three points, while Salalah Club are sixth on two points.
In the opening match, Al Bashayer Club claimed a deserved 45-29 win over Salalah Club after recovering from a slow start. Salalah took control early and finished the first quarter ahead 14-6, but Al Bashayer responded strongly in the second period with a sharp attacking display that turned the momentum of the match. From there, Al Bashayer maintained their superiority and pulled clear for a comfortable victory.
Moataz al Sinani led Al Bashayer with 22 points, while Raddah al Riyami added 7. For Salalah, Fahad Majdi scored 21 points and Firas al Buraiki contributed 6.
The second match saw Nizwa Club maintain their winning start with a 45-38 victory over Sohar Sports Complex in a competitive encounter. Nizwa established an early advantage in the first quarter and managed to protect that lead for the rest of the game despite repeated efforts from Sohar to close the gap.
Once again, Al Muthanna al Rashdi was Nizwa’s standout player with 20 points, while Hamza al Sabari and Omar al Rashdi added 7 points each. For Sohar, Mohammed al Shizawi scored 17 points, Abdulrahman al Rashidi added 9, and Omar al Shizawi finished with 7.
In the third match, Seeb Club secured a hard-earned 41-37 win over Al Amerat Club in one of the closest contests of the round. Seeb controlled the opening half and went into the break leading 19-14. Although Al Amerat improved in the closing stages and pushed hard in the final quarter, Seeb held on to seal the victory.
Saif al Mughairi starred for Seeb with 21 points, while Al Farouq al Hussaini added 13. For Al Amerat, Hamad al Kharousi was the leading scorer with 10 points.
The round further highlighted the league’s role in providing young players with meaningful competition and valuable match experience, with only small margins separating several of the participating centres.
