Muscat: Players from the Athletes Preparation Centre for Bowling are currently participating in an overseas training camp in Malaysia from January 24 to 30, as part of an approved preparation plan aimed at enhancing their technical and physical performance and raising their competitive readiness ahead of upcoming local and international commitments.

The camp forms part of the Centre’s development programmes designed to provide players with valuable international exposure, diversify training methods, and closely evaluate their technical standards, contributing to the overall refinement of their skills and competitive performance.

The delegation includes eight male players: Al Yaman al Hadاrami, Noah al Zadjali, Hatim al Rahbi, Luai al Ghafri, Ali al Kharousi, Mishaal al Balushi, Adam al Harthy and Elyas al Maimani.

Six female players are also participating: Basma al Ismaili, Al Anood al Hajri, Shaikha al Jahdhami, Noor al Balushi, Talia al Shabibi and Rafidah al Hadidi.

The camp is supervised by coaches Lee Honbyo and Ismail al Zadjali, supported by the administrative team comprising Shaima al Hashmi and Ayman al Jahdhami. The programme features intensive training sessions and continuous technical assessments to monitor players’ progress.

Shaima al Hashmi, Board Member of the Oman Bowling Committee, emphasised that the overseas training camp represents an important step in the national preparation pathway, aiming to elevate the technical, physical, and mental readiness of all participants in preparation for the 2026 local and international competitions.

She explained that the daily programme runs in two sessions, morning and evening, combining specialised technical drills with mental and tactical development sessions. Players also benefit from direct exposure to teams and athletes of varying standards, providing valuable competitive experience and realistic performance evaluation.

The camp is held in cooperation with the Megalan Bowling Centre, one of Malaysia’s leading specialised facilities known for organising professional training camps and youth development programmes. The centre offers modern equipment and a high-performance environment that supports skill enhancement and athletic growth.

The programme also includes joint training sessions with Megalan’s youth teams and Malaysian national players, in addition to mini tournaments designed to measure competitive levels and apply the techniques learned during training.

Following the camp, players will participate in upcoming domestic competitions across various age categories, with the most prepared athletes to be selected to represent Oman in international events later this year.

Al Hashmi added that Malaysia was chosen due to its advanced bowling facilities, professional training environment, efficient organisation, and the diversity of playing standards, which provide beneficial competitive exposure that helps develop both technical and mental capabilities.

She concluded by noting that the camp serves as an important opportunity to assess players’ performance, discover emerging talents, and strengthen teamwork and sportsmanship, reaffirming the Oman Bowling Committee’s commitment to supporting development programmes aimed at raising the level of performance both locally and internationally.
