The press conference brought together around 45 participants, including educational staff and school representatives from both boys’ and girls’ schools, reflecting growing interest in school sport and wider student participation in emerging games.

The meeting reviewed the organisational and technical framework of the championship, including the competition system and the participation of schools from Cycle One and Cycle Two. Under the format outlined during the conference, the Cycle One competitions for boys and girls will be played on a group basis, with teams divided into three groups for boys and three groups for girls. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semifinals, along with the best two third-placed teams from the three groups. In the Cycle Two boys’ category, four teams will compete, with the top two sides on points progressing directly to the final.

28 TEAMS

Organisers also confirmed that the championship will feature 28 teams, underlining the continued growth of the sport at school level in the governorate and the increasing engagement of students in the competition.

The conference also featured positive discussions on improving organisation, strengthening school participation and raising the overall quality of competition in future editions. Plans were also presented to expand the championship’s reach and increase the number of participating schools, alongside a broader vision to organise regular sports competitions and events that help discover and nurture student talent.

Khalil bin Eid al Waili, from the tournament’s main organising committee, said the third edition marks a new step in the championship’s development following the success of previous editions and the growing turnout from schools and students.

He said the organising committee is working to deliver a stronger edition both technically and organisationally by providing a suitable competitive environment that helps students develop their abilities and sharpen their skills. He added that the championship goes beyond competition, as it also aims to strengthen the culture of school sport and identify promising talent in the game.

Al Waili added that the next phase will focus on expanding participation and ensuring such events continue on a regular basis, in line with the broader goals of school sport and efforts to provide students with greater opportunities to showcase and develop their potential.

The third Al Dhahirah School Skate Ball Championship comes as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the presence of school sport and create a competitive platform that contributes to building a promising generation of young athletes, with expectations of strong performances and competitive contests throughout the tournament.
