MUSCAT: The Omani-Kazakh Joint Committee discussed prospects for trade, economic, and investment cooperation between the two countries at a meeting held in Muscat, on Tuesday.
The Omani side was headed by Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali al Harthy, Under-secretary of the Foreign Ministry for Political Affairs, while the Kazakh side was headed by Alibek Kuantyrov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The two sides discussed opportunities available in the agricultural, fisheries, water resources, and logistics sectors as well as establishing direct air routes between the two countries. They agreed to exchange knowledge and expertise in the fields of information technology and artificial intelligence and to cooperate in the diplomatic and academic areas.
The meeting was attended by Shaikh Ahmed bin Hashel al Maskari, Head of the GCC and Regional Neighbourhood Department at the Foreign Ministry, Aidarbek Tumatov, Aidarbek Toumatov, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Sultanate of Oman and a number of officials from both sides.
