MUSCAT: The Sultanate of Oman on Monday took part in the 10th meeting of the preparatory committee of undersecretaries entrusted with food safety in GCC states.


Oman was represented at the meeting by Dr Ahmed bin Nasser al Bakri, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources for Agriculture.


The meeting, held via video conferencing, dealt with the GCC Unified Food Law (system) and the GCC Guide on Monitoring Imported Foods, which seeks to unify relevant procedures and raise the efficiency of approved systems.


The meeting also discussed ways to facilitate the flow of food commodities among GCC states during the current circumstances. It laid emphasis on enhancing food security, supporting market stability and ensuring the constant availability of food products that meet the best standards of safety and quality. - ONA
