DOHA: The Sultanate of Oman participated in the 38th meeting of the General Secretariat of Documentation and Archive Centres in the GCC countries, hosted in the Qatari capital, Doha.

The meeting discussed several topics on the agenda, including ways to enhance joint Gulf cooperation in the fields of documentation and archiving. Discussions focused on exchanging expertise between national centres to develop documentation systems and preserve the shared national and Gulf memory for future generations.

The Omani delegation was headed by Dr Hamed bin Mohammed al Dhawyani, Chairman of the National Records and Archives Authority (NRAA). He emphasised that Oman's participation reflects the Authority's commitment to supporting GCC integration in the archival sector.

The meeting concluded by highlighting the importance of supporting digital transformation in archiving and document preservation. The participants also stressed the need to intensify training programmes and promote the "Shared Gulf Memory" through media and cultural platforms to further develop joint documentation efforts across the region. - ONA
