QURAYAT: The Fish Landing Center project in Fins village, located in the Wilayat of Qurayat in Muscat Governorate, is considered one of the key initiatives supporting food security. The project is being implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources as part of its ongoing efforts to develop the infrastructure of the marine fishing sector and support fishermen.

Eng Ahmed Said al Rashdi, Director of the Rehabilitation and Maintenance Department at the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, stated that the project is estimated to cost RO 3 million.

It includes the construction of breakwaters to protect boats, a boat slipway, and the development of an investment area of approximately 10,000 square metres to support fisheries-related activities.

Al Rashdi added in a statement to Oman News Agency (ONA) that the project also encompasses the implementation of infrastructure works, including electricity and water networks as well as internal roads. The project is expected to be completed by mid-2027.

He noted that the project will contribute to improving the working environment for fishermen, enhancing the efficiency of landing operations, and boosting local economic activity, thereby supporting food security and the development of the fisheries sector in Fins village. — ONA
