YANQUL: The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources has completed the construction works for the protection wall project in the Al Buwayridah area of the Wilayat of Yanqul in Al Dhahirah Governorate.

Meanwhile, work continues on the protection wall project in Al Bilad—Al Madam area, where progress has reached 30 per cent. These efforts are part of broader initiatives to mitigate flood risks and safeguard agricultural lands.

The implementation of these two projects falls within a community partnership framework, in which local residents contributed 80 per cent of the total cost, while the ministry covered the remaining 20 per cent. The aim is to secure agricultural holdings against soil erosion and the impacts of wadi flow.

With regard to technical specifications, the protection wall in Al Buwayridah spans 150 metres in length and stands three metres high. Its construction has been completed in accordance with approved engineering standards.

The protection wall in the Al Bilad—Al Madam area, meanwhile, measures 1,700 metres in length and three metres in height, with work ongoing according to the designated timeline. — ONA
