’Hyalah’, owned by Mohammed bin Sultan al Malki, snatched the opening round, while ‘Mahdi’, owned by Mohammed bin Said al Duraie, secured victory in the second round during the evening races at His Majesty Cup Festival 2026 camel racing in the Wilayat of Barka on Tuesday.


Shawahin, owned by Amer bin Abdullah al Amri, and Zakher, owned by Sultan Ali al Ghailani, also claimed wins in their respective rounds, completing the list of four car-winning camels in competitive contests.


The event is organised with the support of the Royal Court Affairs, represented by the Royal Camel Corps (RCC), in collaboration with Oman Camel Racing Federation (OCRF).


The five days competition featured 85 races, in addition to 23 icons and 27 cars from March 29 until April 2.


On the third day, March 31, races were held for the Jadhaa category (four years old) over a distance of 6 km, featuring 7 morning rounds with cash prizes.

10 RACES


On the fourth day, April 1, competitions will include 10 races for the Thanaya and Al Hawl categories over a distance of 8 km, with four morning races offering cash prizes. The six evening races will award four cars and four icons. The same day will also feature four races for the traditional race (human rider) over 2 km, with prizes including a car, khanjar and cash awards.


The Oman Camel Racing Federation (OCRF) enforces strict anti-doping regulations, with all winning camels subject to testing and penalties applied in case of violations.


Participation is restricted to purebred Omani camels fully owned by Omani citizens, as outlined by the Royal Camel Corps.


For traditional races with human riders, participants must be at least 18 years old.
