MoAFWR affirms smooth flow of food commodities, stable prices

MUSCAT: The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources (MoAFWR) held a meeting at the Silal Central Market with several merchants and investors to assess the abundance of food commodities and the stability of their prices on the advent of Eid Al Fitr.


The meeting, attended by Dr Ahmed bin Nasser al Bakri, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources for Agriculture, emphasised the importance of smooth supply chains.


The meeting highlighted the need to ensure a continuous flow of goods to meet the needs of citizens and residents, thereby enhancing the stability of local markets.


The gathering also included a field tour of the market to inspect operational processes and daily supply movements, as well as to listen to the merchants' observations regarding market activity.


The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Consumer Protection Authority; the Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion for Commerce and Industry; and representatives from the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, Asyad Group, Oman Agriculture Development Company, and the Oman Agricultural Association. - ONA
