MUSCAT: The Unified Government Services Portal has attracted more than 285,000 users and processed 779,211 electronic transactions during its first year of operation, underscoring the growing adoption of digital government services in the Sultanate of Oman.

Launched in February 2025 by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, the platform was developed to streamline access to public services through a single digital gateway.

According to official data, the portal currently indexes over 3,200 government services within a unified digital directory covering 58 government entities. It also provides direct access to 80 integrated government services from 10 government entities through a single platform, simplifying procedures and improving access to government services.

User satisfaction with the portal’s services has remained high, ranging between 83 per cent and 94 per cent, reflecting growing public confidence in the country’s expanding digital government ecosystem and the convenience of online service delivery.

During its first year, the portal introduced several digital tools aimed at enhancing the user experience. These include a mobile application, a digital assistant designed to respond to user inquiries and the first Government Services Challenge, an initiative intended to encourage innovation in the development of public services.

Additional initiatives launched through the platform include a government notification service, a unified digital email system and a sign language visual library, reflecting efforts to ensure wider digital inclusion and improve accessibility for diverse segments of society.

The Unified Government Services Portal forms part of Oman’s broader strategy to accelerate digital transformation across government institutions, in line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040. The initiative aims to standardise procedures, strengthen integration among government entities and enable more data-driven decision-making in public administration.

Officials say the portal’s first year represents an important milestone in the development of digital government in Oman. Future plans include expanding the range of integrated services, introducing new digital solutions and harnessing emerging technologies to further enhance government efficiency and the quality of services delivered to the public. — ONA
