Thai bulk carrier attacked near Omani coast; 20 crew rescued

Muscat: The Maritime Security Centre said it received a report that the commercial vessel MAYUREE NAREE, flying the flag of Thailand, was targeted about 13 nautical miles off the Omani coast.

The incident resulted in a fire in the ship’s main engine room, according to the centre.

A vessel from the Royal Navy of Oman evacuated 20 Thai nationals from the ship.

Crew members sustained varying injuries, the centre added.
