MUSCAT: The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, in cooperation with the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Royal Oman Police, has affirmed the readiness of the land transport sector to facilitate the movement of goods from Omani ports to Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) markets.

The authorities highlighted a range of streamlined procedures aimed at enhancing trade flows and strengthening supply chain efficiency across the region.

According to the ministry, a package of logistical facilities has been introduced to ensure the smooth movement of goods and enable faster responses to transport and supply requirements. These measures include facilitating the entry of empty land transport vehicles from GCC countries to collect goods from Oman.

Transport operators can also submit applications through the “Bayan” system, which enables faster and more efficient processing of transport-related procedures.

The ministry noted that these initiatives underscore the importance of transit transport in supporting the movement of goods through Oman to regional markets. The measures are expected to improve shipping efficiency and strengthen the sustainability of supply chains.

Officials said the initiatives further reinforce Oman’s position as a key logistics corridor and a reliable trade gateway in the region, while also opening new avenues for economic cooperation with neighbouring countries. — ONA
