

Souls soared high with Mohammed Sarwat's melodious voice, accompanied by the orchestra led by Maestro Ahmed Taha, in a night filled with spirituality and authentic musical enchantment.
On a blessed night during the holy month of Ramadhan, last Thursday, the voice of artist Mohammed Sarwat resonated through the Royal Opera House Muscat, House of Musical Arts, with a selection of religious chants, inaugurating the first of the “Evenings of Sufi and Inshaad”, a series traditionally presented by the Royal Opera House Muscat to its audience during the sacred month. Spirits rose with his heartfelt performance as he shone alongside the orchestra conducted by Maestro Ahmed Taha. Together, they struck the strings of the soul, creating an evening rich in spirituality and genuine classical artistry.
The Egyptian artist Mohammed Sarwat, regarded as one of the most prominent classical voices in Arabic singing, presented some of his finest works. The audience responded with deep emotion and prolonged applause. In this evening, he encapsulated his long and deeply rooted artistic journey, known for its sincerity and authenticity, qualities that have firmly established his name in the history of Egyptian and Arab song.
His distinction was shaped by his upbringing within the refined school of classical Arabic tarab. He began his artistic career under the guidance of a distinguished group of renowned composers, including Sayed Makkawi, Mohamed El Mougy and Baligh Hamdi. He refined his talent through study and dedicated training, committing himself to an artistic path grounded in value and purpose. His meeting with the legendary composer Mohamed Abdel Wahab marked a pivotal milestone in his singing career, as Abdel Wahab selected him from among his generation to perform specially composed works.
Among the most notable chants Sarwat performed during this remarkable Ramadhan evening in Muscat were: “Nour Al-Nabi”, “Ana Al-Abd Al-Fani”, “Rawdat Al-Hadi”, “Al-Nabi Thak Al-Imam”, “Qoul Lahom Allah Nasarni”, “Sallu Alayh Letas’adu”, “Ya Rasoul Allah Ajirna”, “Metgamaeen Ind Al-Nabi”, “Taha Al-Hadi”, “Al-Mathal Al-A’la”, “Ashraqat Anwar Mohamed”, “Leajl Al-Nabi” and “Al-Qalb Ya’shaq.”
