The Royal Opera House Muscat has announced the opening of Rhythm of Life: Richness and Diversity in Omani Arts, an expansive new exhibition celebrating the depth and evolution of the Sultanate of Oman’s musical heritage. Running from November 19, 2025 to February 7, 2026 at the Exhibition Hall of the Royal Opera House of Musical Arts, the exhibition welcomes visitors daily except on Fridays, from 10 am to 9 pm. Designed as an immersive journey through Oman’s varied musical landscapes, the exhibition highlights the rhythms of the coast and desert, the lyrical traditions of the mountains and the distinctive sounds of rural regions. It features a rich display of traditional instruments, regional performance styles and the artistic innovations that have shaped Oman’s cultural renaissance over recent decades. A central feature is an acoustic dome offering an interactive sound experience, where visitors can listen to archival recordings, explore digital instruments and engage with the living traditions that continue to define Omani musical identity. The exhibition also presents a curated selection of rare publications, scholarly studies and commemorative stamps, underscoring national efforts to document and preserve this cultural legacy. Complementing the display is a series of public talks by leading researchers and musicians, including Musallam al Kathiri on December 10 on vocal styles in Muscat and Dhofar; Ali bin Suhail al Maashani on December 17 on Dhofar’s vocal traditions; Fathi al Balushi on January 14 on the Omani Oud Players Association; Amir Awad on January 21 on the Oman Centre for Traditional Music; and Maestro Hamdan al Shuaili on February 4 on the Royal Oman Symphony Orchestra.
