The opening round of the Ramadhan Billiards and Snooker Championships, organised by the Oman Billiards and Snooker Committee with the participation of 75 players from various nationalities, featured competitive encounters that reflected the readiness and quality of the participants. The tournaments continue until March 13 and are being held at Active Oman.


Snooker Results


In the snooker competition, Shehzad Ghani secured an important 3–0 victory over Yousuf al Foori. Jamsheed al Mahrouqi defeated Mohammed Omar 3–0, while Waqar Ahmed overcame Khalid al Subhi 3–0. Qadeer Abbas claimed a 3–1 win against Ahmed Noman. Haneef al Balushi beat Mohammed Zuhair 3–0, Hamoud al Harthy defeated Hussein al Shaibani 3–1 and Ahmed al Khasbi won against Taha al Balushi 3–1.


Billiards Results


In the billiards matches, Ali al Maamari secured an 8–5 victory over Khalid al Shabibi in a competitive contest. Hamza al Owaidi defeated Khalid al Maawali 9–4, while Mohammed al Balushi earned a narrow 8–7 win over Yousuf al Manji. Khattab al Hashmi achieved a 7–5 victory against Yaqoub al Balushi, Haitham al Habsi defeated Haitham al Balushi 7–2 and Nabeel al Mousawi overcame Ahmed al Bahri 7–4.


The Oman Billiards and Snooker Committee has allocated cash prizes for top finishers in both championships to support and motivate players to deliver higher technical standards. The tournaments form part of the committee’s ongoing efforts to promote the sport, provide Omani players with opportunities to gain competitive experience against diverse opponents, and expand participation during the season.
