

Muscat: The Oman national billiards and snooker delegation departed on Tuesday evening for Alexandria, Egypt, to participate in the Arab Combined Billiards and Snooker Championship from October 15 to 22. The tournament features wide participation from Arab national teams and is regarded as one of the region’s leading events, bringing together elite players in an atmosphere of high-level competition.
The delegation is headed by Captain Khalid al Shabibi, member of the Oman Billiards and Snooker Committee, who affirmed before departure that the players are fully prepared and eager to deliver a performance that reflects the progress of the sport in the Sultanate of Oman in recent years.
In the snooker team, Oman will be represented by Captain Ahmed al Khusaibi, Captain Omar al Busaidy, Captain Sami al Hamrashdi, Captain Abdullah al Raisi, Captain Hussain al Lawati and Captain Qasim al Balushi. These players possess strong experience from previous participations in Arab and Asian tournaments and aim to achieve positive results that place Oman among the leading teams in this edition.
As for the junior snooker team, it includes Mohammed bin Qasim al Balushi, Ezz bin Abdullah al Raisi and Khalid bin Waleed al Balushi. The inclusion of these young players comes as part of the committee’s long-term strategy to develop a promising generation capable of carrying the sport forward and gaining valuable experience through exposure to high-level competition.
Meanwhile, the billiards team comprises Captain Mohammed al Balushi, Captain Nasser bin Tamim al Hinai, and the young players Hassan al Musawi and Hamad al Ghabshi. The team aims to deliver a strong showing after a series of intensive training camps that focused on tactical awareness, precision shooting, and mental readiness for long matches.
The delegation members emphasised that their participation goes beyond competition, it is also about exchanging experiences with fellow Arab teams and raising Oman’s flag high in this prestigious Arab event. They expressed their hope that this participation will result in honourable outcomes that reflect the ongoing efforts to develop billiards and snooker locally.
