The Royal Oman Police, in partnership with the Oman Equestrian Federation, organised the 18th race meeting of the season at Al Wattayah Racecourse, attended by Abdulrazzaq bin Abdulqader al Shuhourzi, Chairman of the Oman Horse Racing Club, alongside owners and racing enthusiasts. The event featured six competitive races across various distances and categories.
The opening race, ‘Wadi Adai’ for locally bred Arabian horses (four years and above) over 1,500 metres, was claimed by ‘Sumood RS’, ridden by Mazin bin Mubarak al Yahyai and trained by Khalfan bin Ali al Riyami.
In the second race, ‘A Sadd’ for Arabian horses over 1,500 metres, ‘SSR Sarab’, ridden by Adam bin Talib al Balushi and trained by Mohammed bin Ibrahim al Farsi, delivered a commanding performance to secure first place.
The third race, ‘Mina Al Fahal’ for locally bred Arabians over 2,000 metres, saw ‘Hammam’ triumph under jockey Adam bin Talib al Balushi, marking his second win of the evening, with trainer Khalid bin Said al Maskari.
In the fourth race ‘Al Hamriyah’ for over 2,000 metres, ‘Kashmir’, ridden by Anas bin Salim al Siyabi and trained by Hussein bin Ali al Sanidy, secured victory after a tactically controlled run.
PRIMA SUMMER CLAIMS FIFTH RACE
The fifth race, ‘Al Sarooj’ for thoroughbreds over 2,000 metres, was won by ‘Prima Summer’, guided by jockey Anas bin Salim al Siyabi and trained by Mohammed bin Salim al Siyabi.
Anas al Siyabi said: “Winning Al Sarooj reflects thorough preparation and strong teamwork. Prima Summer showed excellent responsiveness and determination throughout the race.”
Trainer Mohammed al Siyabi added: “Our strategy was to maintain rhythm early and accelerate gradually, the horse proved his quality over middle and long distances and we look forward to upcoming challenges.”
The sixth and concluding ‘Al Wattayah’ race for Arabian horses over 2,000 metres was won by ‘Al Reem’, ridden by Al Mutasim bin Said al Balushi and trained by Mohammed bin Issa al Balushi.
Al Mutasim al Balushi commented: “It was a highly competitive race, Al Reem displayed great stamina and determination in the final stretch, and this victory motivates us for future races.”
The 18th race meeting once again highlighted the growing momentum of horse racing in Oman, supported by strong organisation and effective collaboration between the Royal Oman Police and the Oman Equestrian Federation.
