MUSCAT, FEB 23

To honour the valuable contributions of volunteers and to strengthen the spirit of community engagement, the Department of Continuing Education and Community Service, the Preparatory Studies Center Team and the College of Economics and Business Administration, organised a Beach Cleanup Campaign at Al Uwayd beach in the Wilayat of Al Musannah. The campaign was carried out in partnership with the Environment Authority, Al Musannah Municipality, and Wahat Al Majd School. Such initiatives reflect UTAS-Al Musannah’s direction toward strengthening partnerships with public and private sector entities in service of the wider community.

During the cleanup, volunteers diligently collected and disposed of various types of waste found along the shoreline, contributing to the preservation of the beach’s natural beauty and ecological well-being. The campaign also provided an opportunity to instil environmental values among students through practical engagement beyond the classroom setting.

The event witnessed remarkable participation from both university staff and students, who showcased strong teamwork, enthusiasm, and commitment throughout the activity. Their combined efforts greatly improved the cleanliness of the beach and served as an important reminder of the impact of individual responsibility and collective action in protecting the environment.

Organisers highlighted that the success of the campaign demonstrates the power of collective action in addressing environmental challenges at the local level. The University continues to encourage similar outreach activities that translate institutional values into tangible community impact. Collaborative projects such as this continue to foster community unity and promote responsible guardianship of the environment.
