NIZWA: A student delegation from St Michael's School in Zaandam, the Netherlands, visited Al Dakhiliyah Governorate as part of the educational exchange programme between the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of the Netherlands, aimed at enhancing educational cooperation and cultural understanding between the two nations.
The visit builds upon last year’s successful exchange that hosted Dutch students in Dhofar Governorate, underscoring the ongoing collaboration between educational institutions in both countries to deepen knowledge and experience sharing.
During their visit, the Dutch students explored the educational experience at several schools in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate. They joined the morning assembly and listened to radio segments presented by Omani students on the history and cultural heritage of Oman. The delegation also interacted in classroom sessions on chemistry, art, music, physical education and scientific innovation.
Said bin Ali al Dhahli, Senior International Relations Specialist at the Ministry of Education and supervisor of the visit, said, “These exchange visits are part of the Ministry of Education’s efforts to strengthen international partnerships and build an educational system open to diverse cultures.” He added that the visit enabled the Dutch students to gain first-hand insight into Oman’s educational environment and engage directly with students and teachers, showcasing the progress achieved in scientific, artistic and sports education.
He further noted that such programmes help promote values of dialogue, understanding and mutual respect between young generations while providing opportunities to share ideas and creative experiences.
The visiting students expressed their appreciation for the warm hospitality and excellent organisation, affirming that the experience served as a meaningful bridge of cultural and educational friendship between Oman and the Netherlands. - ONA
