Barka — Sayyid Tariq bin Mahmoud Al Busaidi, Wali of Barka, received at his office a package of community initiatives launched by Barka Desalination Company in conjunction with the Holy Month of Ramadan and in preparation for Eid Al Fitr.
The initiatives were presented during a meeting attended by the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Asem bin Mohammed al Rashidi; Dr. Saleh bin Hamad al Alawi, Director of Corporate Social Responsibility; Abdul Latif bin Mohammed Al Farsi, Chairman of the Zakat and Charitable Committee in the wilayat; and Khalid bin Mohammed al Harthy, Deputy Head of Barka Voluntary Team.
The meeting underscored the strategic partnership between the private sector and governmental and community institutions, highlighting joint efforts to ensure that support reaches eligible families in need and orphans across the wilayat.
The Wali commended the company’s commitment to social responsibility, noting that such initiatives reflect the spirit of solidarity and compassion that characterise the Holy Month. He emphasised that coordinated community efforts contribute to strengthening social cohesion and alleviating burdens on low-income families, particularly during Ramadan and Eid.
Asem al Rashidi stated that the Ramadan initiatives stem from the company’s firm belief in its social responsibility and its commitment to delivering sustainable and meaningful contributions to the local community. He explained that the company adopts a clear vision aimed at engaging various segments of society through specialised programmes, particularly in the fields of health, education, and innovation, in addition to seasonal initiatives targeting the most vulnerable groups.
This year’s initiatives include the “Iftar Saem” programme, which provides daily iftar meals for low-income families and workers, as well as Eid support for orphans through financial and in-kind assistance to help them celebrate the occasion with dignity and joy. The company seeks to expand the reach of its community programmes and ensure that its contributions directly address pressing social needs.
Dr. Saleh Al Alawi noted that Ramadan represents an annual opportunity to renew commitments to social responsibility and to reinforce values of compassion, solidarity, and kinship.
He further stressed that the success of these initiatives depends on close collaboration with key partners, particularly the Zakat Committee and Barka Voluntary Team, to ensure that assistance is delivered efficiently and transparently, in alignment with broader social development goals in the wilayat.
The initiatives reflect an integrated model of community partnership, demonstrating the private sector’s active role in advancing social development and fostering a culture of institutional responsibility that extends beyond economic performance to meaningful community impact.
