MUSCAT: The Visual Arts Society (VAS) recently hosted its first student-led art event in Oman, providing a dynamic platform for young creatives to showcase their talents while supporting a meaningful social cause.

The event held at ABA Oman International School was organised and curated by students Burhanuddin Dairkee and Ismaiel Dairkee. The initiative brought together students, artists, teachers, parents and members of the wider community to explore visual arts beyond the classroom and strengthen creative engagement.

Held under the theme ‘The Future Is Now,’ the showcase highlighted the vital role of youth in shaping Oman’s future. The exhibition featured diverse artistic expressions and encouraged dialogue between aspiring student artists and established professionals.

The event was attended by chief guests Mohammed Alattar and Waleed al Rajhi from the University of Nizwa, who commended the students for their leadership and vision.

The event also supported a charitable cause, raising over RO 125 for the Maeen Endowment Foundation in support of students at the University of Nizwa.

“We created Visual Arts Society as an NGO with the aim of giving students a platform to express themselves creatively beyond academics, in a supportive and non-competitive environment, while also contributing positively to local communities and charities in Oman,” said Burhanuddin, Founder of the Visual Arts Society.

The inaugural event marks the beginning of VAS’s journey, with plans already underway to organise larger and more impactful art initiatives in the future, further strengthening youth engagement and community involvement through the arts.
